UPOU and Appleone Brokenshire Medical Corporation Sign MOU to Boost Nursing Education

The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) and the Appleone Brokenshire Medical Corporation solidified their collaborative ties through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 19 August 2024. This partnership will center on the Clinical Internship/Practicum Program of the Graduate Students of Master of Arts in Nursing (MAN).

UPOU Chancellor Melinda dela Peña Bandalaria, UPOU Faculty of Management and Development Studies Dean Joane Serrano, and MAN Program Chair Ria Valerie Cabanes, together with Appleone Brokenshire Medical Corporation CEO Ronald Manuel Santos signed the document that will further improve UPOU’s MAN program.

Chancellor Bandalaria emphasized that this partnership is a testament to the quality of education that UPOU offers. Recognizing the limitations of online learning at UPOU in providing facilities that would help achieve the learning outcomes of MAN students, partnerships like this with institutions that share the same goals and visions are critical in continuing professional development in nursing. Chancellor Bandalaria acknowledged Appleone Brokeshire Medical Corporation and FMDS for making this partnership possible.

Mr. Santos affirmed the company’s dedication to training as a cornerstone of professional development. He expressed enthusiasm about the partnership’s potential to elevate nursing standards.

Dean Serrano concluded the event by underscoring the significance of the collaboration and outlining FMDS’s initiatives to further strengthen its nursing program.
