UPOU Earns Highest Distinction in Asian Association of Open Universities Accreditation

What a way to start the year! The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) has been awarded Level 4 Accreditation, the highest honor granted by the Asian Association of Open Universities (AAOU) Accreditation System. This recognition marks a significant milestone as UPOU celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. It underscores the university’s leadership in open and distance education and its unwavering dedication to delivering quality and accessible learning experiences in the Philippines and beyond.

This prestigious recognition follows the institutional accreditation process held from 5-7 November  2024. The event, organized by the UPOU Quality Assurance Office (QAO), evaluated UPOU’s adherence to international standards in open and distance education.

The AAOU Accreditation Team, chaired by Prof. Kam Cheong Li of Hong Kong Metropolitan University, commended UPOU’s strengths and provided strategic recommendations for further growth. UPOU Chancellor Melinda Bandalaria recognized the collective efforts of the university community in achieving this remarkable feat.
