UPOU Students Engage in Library Events Across the UP System (1)

As part of the ongoing efforts to actively promote its services, the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) Library supported the UP System Library events held from October 2024 to January 2025. Through gamification activities and contests, students engaged in challenges ranging from exploring academic resources to developing search strategies.

Among the challenges hosted was The Great Info Hunt 2024, wherein students explored library resources, performed search strategies, and learned about library services across the UP System while immersing themselves in Philippine History, the event’s central theme. UPOU Master of Research and Development Management student, Restituto Felipe Gabuya, was among the winners and took home an Epson EcoTank Printer.

Other UPOU students also participated in the Emerald Insight Case Study Contest, where they showcased their analytical skills by solving real-world business cases from the Emerald Insights platform. Three winners emerged from the contest: Diploma in Land Valuation and Management student, Joel Duque  and Desiree Love Faith Madamba from the Master of Distance Education program both won a Redmi Watch 5 Active Smart Watch, and Master of Information Systems student, Ivy Chanelle Dadios, on the other hand, received a pair of Lenovo Wireless Earphones.

To challenge students’ academic journal exploration and research skills, the UP System Library also took part in the Philippine EJournal Search. Diploma in Computer Science student, Job Jason Chua and Jonel Tabura from the Master of Environment and Natural Resources Management program both won a Starbucks gift card worth PHP 300.

With engaging activities and contests, libraries across the UP System successfully promoted its services and resources.
