As part of the activities of the 29th Commencement Exercises of the UP Open University (UPOU), the Office of Public Affairs led an alumni orientation for the UPOU Class of 2025 on 5 December 2025.
Catering to graduates from each of UPOU Faculties of Study, the orientation aimed to strengthen alumni engagement by introducing available alumni organizations, encouraging participation in programs, and fostering lasting connections with the institution and fellow alumni.

Representatives from the UP Alumni Association (UPAA) and the UPOU Alumni Association, Inc. (UPOUAAI) shared their organizations, advocacies, projects, and alumni benefits. Ms. Ysabela Patrice Balon of the UPAA Secretariat presented the UPAA while Mr. Jonathan Bernabe, Treasurer, and Ms. Hyacinth Celzo, Board of Trustees, spoke on behalf of UPOUAAI.
The program included the introduction of the UPOU Office of Public Affairs (OPA), which serves as the alumni relations arm of UPOU, and the UP Office of Alumni Relations based in Diliman, Quezon City, which manages the alumni relations for the whole UP, the UP Alumni Email, and the UP Alumni Database.
A video on UPOU alumni integration into the UPOU Vision was presented, followed by a message from Dr. Primo G. Garcia, Director of the UPOU OPA. He reiterated the importance of the alumni to the university and the ways, programs, and projects in which they could engage. He congratulated the new UPOU alumni and encouraged them, “Padayon, Para sa Bayan.”

The three sessions of Alumni Orientation were attended by 57 FED graduates, 95 FICS graduates, and 84 FMDS graduates. Ms. Anna Cañas-Llamas, Assistant to the Director of the Office of Public Affairs, served as the event host.
