The first Labor Day commemoration in the country took place on 1 May 1903. It was organized by the Union Obrera Democratica Filipina (UODF), the nation's first labor federation, symbolizing the struggle for better working conditions and fair treatment. ![]()

Today, the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) joins the nation in honoring the Filipino workers of society and the continuous call for better living wage and workplace safety for a just and fair society. ![]()
