The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) Quality Assurance Office (QAO) conducted the 6th Batch of Pre-External Quality Review (EQR) Program Chair Orientation on 19 February 2026. The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU), through its Quality Assurance Office (QAO), successfully conducted the 5th Batch of the Pre–External Quality Review (EQR) Writeshops for the Graduate Certificate in ASEAN Studies (GCAS) and the Diploma in Social Work (DSW) Program SAR Writing Teams. These writeshops form part of the University’s continuing preparations for the upcoming External Quality Review scheduled on 24-26 June 2026. The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) participated in the MICROCASA International Conference 2026, held on 3-4 February 2026 at the Universiti Sains Malaysia, marking the final major activity of the MICROCASA Project (Micro-credentials for Life-long Learning and Employability: Building Capacities for Developing Agile Educational Interventions in Southeast Asian Universities). The Faculty of Information and Communication Studies (FICS) has named Assistant Professor Lei Kristoffer Lactuan as the new Chair of the Associate of Science in Information Technology (ASIT). He takes over from Dr. Reinald Adrian Pugoy, who served in the role until January 2026. Assistant Professor Lactuan brings with him a strong academic foundation in computer science and information technology. Bridging quality education with climate action, the Faculty of Information and Communication Studies (FICS)  formally launched its free Climate Information Services Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) on 30 January 2026 at the UPOU Headquarters, Los Baños, Laguna.
