A delegation from the Batangas State University—TNEU Science, Technology, Engineering, Agriculture, and Mathematics (STEAM) Library visited the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) on 30 July 2024 to learn best practices for managing a thesis/dissertation repository system.

The BatStateU delegation, led by Ms. Analiza A. Frane, Library Services College Librarian III, sought insights from UPOU on its current processes and strategies for enhancing its repository system. The meeting took place at the UPOU headquarters in Los Baños, Laguna.

UPOU University Librarian Mr. Joel Ocier provided an overview of the university’s UPLOAD system, detailing its management and key features. Mr. Eriberto Roxas Jr., Senior Systems Administrator at UPOU ICT Development Office, shared his expertise on DSpace operations. Ms. Anna Canas-Llamas, Information Officer at the Office of Public Affairs (OPA), extended a warm welcome to the BatStateU team and facilitated the meeting.

This knowledge-sharing initiative underscores the importance of collaboration among academic institutions in advancing library services and resources.

In line with its mandate under RA 10650, also known as the “Open Distance Learning Law,” and its commitment to Sustainable Development Goals No. 4 (Quality Education) and No. 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), UPOU continues to play a pivotal role in fostering collaboration between various organizations and institutions. These efforts aim to provide accessible and high-quality education to a diverse range of learners, promoting cooperation and shared progress in the educational landscape.
