On 22 April 2022,  the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) ColLaboratoire Fellows presented the outcome of the research projects in a webinar titled “Radical Pluridisciplinarity for Sustainable Development: Outcomes from the ColLaboratoire 2020.” These outcomes are the result of a week-long research residency on Cognitive Innovation for Sustainable Development dubbed ColLaboratoire.

Paper presenters include: Ralph Lumbres and Lisa Hall for the study “Ecological Embodied Cognition: Making Sense of Environmental Empathy.” Kate Ashlyn Dayag presented about “(Re)constructing Aging: An Online Exhibit on the Filipinos Meanings of Aging.”  UPOU Alumna Shari Eunice San Pablo then shared about her research titled “Fixing Information Disorder in Social Media.” The study of Jandy Danzalan and Charlotte Christine de Leon was about “Connecting to the life of Agta Community: Inspirations and Aspirations.” Last but not the least,  Ana Katrina de Jesus shared about “Playful Storytelling as Innovation in Education and Future Applications to Participatory Action Research.”

Dr. Mona Nasser, Associate Professor of Evidence-Based Dentistry at the University of Plymouth and one of the mentors of ColLaboratoire,  provided the background about the research fellowship. Dr. Sue Denham, fellow facilitator and mentor and director of Wotelsat UK Lld Company (UK),  delivered the closing remarks. 

Dr. Diego Silang Maranan, ColLaboratoire Mentor and Dean of the UPOU Faculty of Information and Communication Studies,  served as the moderator, while Dr. Myra Oruga, Assistant to the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs for Research, and Dr. Emely Amoloza FICS Masterclass Proponent, served as hosts of the program.

This research residency was held on 27 January to 2 February 2020 in Siargao, Philippines. The research studies were aimed to address six research challenges related to the UN Sustainable Goals (SDG). The fellows explored imaginative, methodologically innovative, and radically multiple-disciplinary research practices to address the Research Challenges.

The “Radical Pluridisciplinarity for Sustainable Development: Outcomes from the ColLaboratoire 2020” is a joint event between the Research Conversations, spearheaded by the UPOU Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs; and the Master Class organized by the UPOU Faculty of Information and Communication Studies.
