COVID-19 Outbreak sa Probinsiya

Special Topic

The places with the highest numbers of COVID-19 are Quezon City, Cavite, Laguna, Manila, and Bulacan.  It is to be expected that efforts to control the spread of the virus have focused on these places.  However, recent news reports point to increasing numbers of COVID-19 cases, high positivity rates, and congested hospitals in the provinces.  What is the situation in different provinces?  What are the challenges in vaccination, testing, treatment, and care?  What are the innovations from the field? How are our frontliners coping in the provinces?

In this episode of STOP COVID DEATHS we will take a look at the situation and the response in different parts of the country.  Apparently, there are cities that do not have their own molecular laboratories for RT-PCR tests.  When hospitals are full, referrals are made to other provinces.  There are limited ICU beds and shortages of oxygen in some areas. And yet despite all these limitations, health workers are doing their best to meet the rising need for services using “bayanihan” and collective action with the communities, the private sector and with non-profit organizations. Some innovations are in reporting, additional allowances for front liners from private sector donations, networking for RT-PCR testing and local production of oxygen.

From Region 2 – Dr. Rio Magpantay, Regional Director DOH will share the experiences in Northern Luzon; from Cebu City, Dr. Brian Albert Lim will talk about the response in Cebu City; from Iligan City, Dr. Leonell Albert Quitos will discuss the situation in Central Mindanao; Dr. Fahra Tan-Omar will talk about Sulu province.

Join your credible on-line community and hear it first-hand from our leaders in the field in the different provinces of the country.

Stay Safe. Stay Healthy. Stay Connected!

Together we can STOP COVID DEATHS!
