The University of Philippines Open University (UPOU) joined the international benchmarking consortium led by Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU) in the development of the Benchmarking Framework and Data Set for Online, Open, Smart, and Technology-Enhanced Higher Education. The 26th Anniversary of the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) is an earmark in history, as the first anniversary to be held virtually, and the most heartfelt, perhaps. Boone as the resource speaker. In celebration of the UP Open University (UPOU) 26th Anniversary, with the theme “The University of the Future: Sustainability and Agility Amidst Disruption,” UPOU recognized exemplary faculty members, Research, Extension and Professional Staff (REPS),  and administrative staff during its anniversary day. The UPOU Family Day was held virtually in the afternoon of 23 February 2021. Open Education Week is celebrated every March of each year. The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) is one with the world in celebrating this event as part of its  advocacy for open education. This 2021, it will be held on 1 to 5 March 2021 and UPOU has lined up activities in celebration of Open Education Week 2021. First on the list is OpenTalk, a new magazine program that will be launched on 3 March 2021.
