Mr. Albert C. Bandoquillo was recognized as the 2021 DepEd Gawad Siklab Most Outstanding Barkada Kontra Droga (BKD) Adviser. Through efforts, support, and participation of various stakeholders, he was awarded as one of the Top 3 Finalists for the National level of Gawad Siklab. BKD is a youth-based organization aimed at strengthening drug education as one of the solutions in combating the lethal effects and impacts of drugs on youths. The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) joins the first-ever system-wide UP Pride. With the theme, Heal, Rise and Unite, the UP Pride will be a month-long celebration starting on 8 October 2021. The UPOU proudly joins this month-long celebration through a series of online campaigns and activities spread out this October. The Faculty of Education (FEd) of the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) joins the country in  celebrating the National Teachers’ Month (NTM). This month-long event runs from 5 September to 5 October 2021, with 5 October 2021 as the National Teachers’ Day. The National Teachers’ Day (NTD) has been celebrated every 5th of October since 1994 following the mandate of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
